Host country Qatar has inaugurated a new museum on the occasion of World Cup football. Where Pele, there are monuments to legendary players like Roger Federers. The Olympic and Sports Museum also showcases Qatar’s sporting history.
Qatar, the host country, has built new stadiums and spectacular facilities for the football World Cup. One of which is the Doha Olympic and Sports Museum. The Middle Eastern country recently opened this new museum to mark the occasion of hosting the World Cup.
Adjacent to the Khalifa International Stadium, the museum has 5 floors. The 19,000 square meter museum has seven galleries, a gift shop, a library, a research area and a multi-purpose auditorium.
From football legend Pele to tennis star Roger Federer, the museum has a chance to see memorabilia of many stars. Besides, many artifacts of Qatar’s Olympic history are also kept in the museum gallery. Basically, such an arrangement is to highlight the sport-friendly nature of Qatar in front of people.
Abdullah Youssef Al Mulla, director of the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, said Qatar has successfully hosted many major sporting events so far. We have organized about 500 competitions individually and jointly. Many memories are associated with the event. Which we have collected under one roof through this museum. So that everyone gets a chance to see and know that Qatar is a sports loving country.
The museum is open at all times except on match days at the Khalifa International Stadium. Tourists will be charged US$15 for entry. The museum will be open to all from October 1 to March 31, 2023. However, after the inauguration, a limited number of visitors got a chance to visit the museum.
Khaled Wehbi, a tourist from Saudi Arabia, said that he never imagined that this museum would be so beautiful and tidy. We are really surprised. Facilities, behavior of staff, cleanliness are all impressive. Everything is beautifully displayed in the museum. We experienced much more than expected.
According to the host country, this Olympic and Sports Museum in Qatar is one of the largest sports museums in the world.
